The Keyboard

Your everyday keyboard becomes a translation coach: two layouts, clipboard import, pronunciation, and persona-tuned output.

Enable Full Access

Allowing Full Access lets the keyboard reach translation, clipboard, and audio services while still respecting the privacy boundaries in our policy.

  1. Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
  2. Choose Sir Types-A-Lot.
  3. Toggle Allow Full Access on, then confirm.

Tip: After you toggle it, switch to Sir Types-A-Lot inside any text field so iOS registers the new permission immediately.

Getting Started

Type on the primary layout just as you would on the system keyboard. Tap Shift for uppercase text, 123 for numbers/symbols, and long-press characters with a dot (like e or a) to reveal accents—slide to pick the letter you need.

Text Translation

When your message is ready, tap the ➡️ button. The translated phrase appears on the secondary layout so you can retype it for muscle memory or tap to copy.

Clipboard Translation

Use the 📋 button to pull whatever you copied elsewhere. The keyboard pastes it, translates it, and prepares the new string on the secondary layout in one step.

Guided Typing

While you type on the translated layout, the next correct keys glow to create a chase-light effect. Making a mistake turns the Backspace key red—press it to get back on track before guidance resumes.

Hear Pronunciations

Speech playback is optional and configurable. Choose letter-by-letter, word-by-word, or full phrase audio from the main app’s Settings screen to match how you like to practice.

Romanization & Full Text

For non-Latin scripts we show a romanized helper line across the top of the keyboard. If the phrase is longer than the bar, tap it to open a modal with the complete text so you never lose context.

AI Persona Translations (Premium)

Subscribers can set a persona—casual, formal, or professional—inside the primary app. The keyboard applies that tone to every translation so your replies sound intentional.
